PEREMPUAN: KREAVI FEMALE EMPOWERMENT POSTER
On April 16th to 17th 2016, me along with seven other chosen female young designers were invited to Kreavi Headquarter to attend Kreavi Round Table: Female Empowerment. The event was held to commemorate 2016 Kartini Day, the day where Indonesian women celebrate R. A. Kartini's struggle for gender equality in Indonesia throughout the colonial period. The event consisted of two days design-camp wherein the designers were given workshop about design sprint leading to afternoon discussion and mentoring session about the role of female young designer in Indonesia's creative industry. The result of the event was series of posters made by each one of the young designers depicting problems faced by Indonesian women from our point of view. The posters were later exhibited at Coworkinc coworking space, Jakarta, Indonesia in April 21st to 28th 2016.
Confined by the stereotype and stigma build by the society, the confidence of Indonesian women often faints. Those stereotypes and stigmas are gradually fading the ray of lights inside each one of them. Those stereotypes became a metaphorical box, limiting women to explore their abilities in their work of field. Whereas in fact, those lights have the potential and talent that could help others in needs around them. If women are brave enough to break through that stereotype and stigma box, then all the women can shine and be a complete female figure with big contributions in the development of Indonesia.
